5 Tips to Get the Most Out of Bridal Expos
A bridal expo can be a great place to get new ideas, see new products and become inspired during your wedding planning. Here are five tips to help you make the most of this experience so you can walk away ready to create the event of a lifetime.
1. Map Out Your Needs and Itinerary
Whether this is your first or fifth bridal expo, it’s always good to be prepared. Know ahead of time the types of vendors you want to talk to. For instance, if you’re just getting started, focus on the big picture, such as the venue for your wedding or finding a wedding planner. Talk to caterers to find out more about what they offer and their prices. If you have the basic ideas in place, plans will fall into line. Before you know it you’ll be meeting with photographers or discussing the wedding cake flavors or design. Break it up, if you try to do it all at once, you’ll end up feeling overwhelmed.
2. Come Prepared
Come prepared! Dress comfortably, you’ll be doing a lot of walking. Bring a bag big to carry any brochures, free gifts, and samples you receive from the vendors. Have your address and other contact information pre-printed. Have your schedule up-to-date; make appointments with the vendors you want to follow up with. Include any information on decisions you’ve already made, such as swatches of fabric or wedding colors.
3. Know Who to Bring
Many brides like to bring friends and family with them to expos. They may want a second and sometimes even a third opinion from those who they love and trust. Be cautious of unsolicited advice. Too many opinions can slow down or even ruin the experience. Limit the number of people on your list to those who know what you like and have a vested interest in the event.
4. Be Informed
No matter where you are in the planning stages for your wedding, take some time and some research. Have an idea of what’s available, whether you’re looking at venues or wedding gowns. Make a list of questions you would ask a vendor, so you can get the information you need. These events are packed with vendors and attendees, so naturally it can get overwhelming. Don’t forget to get contact information from any vendors you like so you can follow up later on.
5. Make It a Day of Fun
Realize you’ll be spending several hours at one of these events so plan accordingly. Don’t over book yourself, let’s get real- you’ll be exhausted after the expo. Many vendors hold drawings at the end of the expo, so you won’t want to leave early. On the other hand, don’t try to figure out every detail of your wedding at one event. It’s likely that several bridal expos are held in your area, and each one can provide a new pieces of the puzzle that is your wedding.
An upcoming event, the Winter Isle® Bridal Expo right here at Isle® Casino Cape Girardeau is a great place to practice this information. It’s being held on January 17, 2016. The admission is only $5, and the money will be donated to the United Way of Southeast Missouri. This event offers a fabulous chance for you to get started on your wedding plans or piece together some final details.
The venue is also a delightful place for attendees to consider holding a bridal shower or other special event. You can check out the place during the bridal expo and consider how it would work for your own event.
